The DI810 Digital Input Module is a key component of ABB's S800 I/O series, a high-performance, highly reliable industrial-grade digital signal acquisition module. Designed specifically for industrial automation control systems, it is widely used in signal acquisition and monitoring systems across power, petrochemical, manufacturing, transportation, and other fields. The DI810 provides 16 independent digital input channels, supports 24V DC voltage input, and features excellent electrical isolation and interference immunity, making it suitable for various demanding industrial environments.


The DI810 module features a compact design, rugged construction, and supports multiple Module Termination Units (MTUs), offering flexible installation and strong compatibility. It integrates seamlessly with various ABB control system platforms such as 800xA, Advant OCS, and Compact Product Suite, making it an ideal choice for building reliable and efficient data acquisition systems.



2. Key Features

  1. High-Density Channel Design: Provides 16 digital input channels, suitable for centralized acquisition of multiple signal points.

  2. Safe and Reliable Electrical Isolation: The 16 channels are divided into two groups (8 channels per group), with electrical isolation between groups and from ground, effectively preventing signal interference and ground loop issues.

  3. Voltage Supervision Function: Each group includes one process voltage supervision input for real-time power supply monitoring. Voltage anomalies are reported as errors via the ModuleBus.

  4. Wide Voltage Input Range: Supports an operating voltage range of 18–30 V DC. The input signal recognition range is 15–30 V for logic "1" and -30–+5 V for logic "0".

  5. Adjustable Digital Filtering: Supports four selectable digital filter times: 2 ms, 4 ms, 8 ms, and 16 ms, effectively suppressing noise pulses and improving signal stability.

  6. Compatibility with Various Terminal Units: Compatible with multiple MTUs including TU810, TU812, TU814, TU818, TU830, TU833, TU838, and TU850, adapting to different wiring methods and application scenarios.

  7. Clear Status Indication: Each channel is equipped with an LED status indicator for easy on-site debugging and maintenance.

  8. Environmental Compliance: Complies with the EU RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) and is classified under WEEE Category 5 (Small Equipment).



3. Compatibility and System Integration

The DI810 module seamlessly integrates into various ABB control system architectures, including but not limited to:

  • 800xA System (Versions 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0)

  • Advant OCS with Master SW

  • Advant OCS with MOD 300 SW

  • Compact Product Suite

The module is compatible with all S800 I/O series racks and backplanes and communicates efficiently with controllers via the ModuleBus for real-time data acquisition and status feedback.



4. Wiring and Termination Unit Configuration

The DI810 module requires a Module Termination Unit (MTU) for use. Different MTUs offer various wiring methods and functional extensions:

The DI810 is suitable for the following industrial signal acquisition applications:

  • Equipment Status Monitoring: e.g., motor run status, valve open/close, limit switch status.

  • Safety System Inputs: e.g., emergency stop buttons, safety door switches, light curtain signals.

  • Process Control Signals: e.g., level switches, pressure switches, temperature switches.

  • Production Line Counting & Detection: e.g., photoelectric sensors, proximity switches.

  • Power System Status Indication: e.g., circuit breaker status, isolator position.



6. Installation and Usage Notes

  1. Power Supply Requirements: Ensure a stable 24 V DC power supply within the 18–30 V range.

  2. Grounding and Shielding: Use shielded cables and implement proper grounding to reduce electromagnetic interference.

  3. Environmental Conditions: The module is designed for standard industrial environments. Avoid direct exposure to corrosive gases or excessive dust.

  4. Filter Settings: Select appropriate filter times based on site interference levels to balance response speed and noise immunity.

  5. MTU Selection: Choose the appropriate terminal unit based on actual wiring type and protection requirements.

  6. Firmware and Configuration: Correctly configure the module parameters within the respective control system platform to ensure proper communication.
