The 330180 Proximitor Sensor is one of the core components of the 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System. Together with the probe and extension cable, it forms a complete measurement system. This system is used to measure vibration and position signals of rotating machinery, outputting a voltage signal proportional to the distance between the probe and the observed metal surface. It can simultaneously measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) parameters.
The 330180 Proximitor Sensor contains a high-frequency oscillator circuit (which supplies excitation to the probe coil) and a signal conditioning circuit. The proximitor continuously monitors changes in the impedance of the probe coil and converts these changes into a DC voltage signal output that is linearly proportional to the gap distance. In other words, the Proximitor Sensor is responsible for receiving signals from the probe, then processing, amplifying, and linearizing them to ultimately output a highly accurate analog voltage signal.
Compared to previous-generation products, the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor has been optimized in several aspects:
It supports high-density DIN rail installation, saving space. It can also be panel-mounted, with mounting hole patterns compatible with older versions, eliminating the need to change the mounting baseplate.
The mounting base features built-in electrical isolation, removing the requirement for additional isolation plates.
It offers excellent resistance to radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI). It can be installed in fiberglass enclosures without being affected by nearby radio frequency signals. Compliant with European CE marking requirements, it eliminates the need for shielded conduits or metal enclosures, reducing installation cost and complexity.
It utilizes SpringLoc spring-clamp terminals, which require no special tools, enabling faster and more reliable wiring while preventing screw loosening issues.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will the different packaging of the 330180 Proximitor Sensor compared to previous generations have any impact?
Answer: No. Although the packaging of the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor differs from its predecessor, its design fits the same 4-hole mounting pattern when used with the 4-hole mounting base and will fit within the same mounting space specifications (provided the minimum permissible cable bend radius is observed).
Is the 330180 Proximitor Sensor compatible with previous-generation series products?
Answer: Yes. The 330180 Proximitor Sensor is fully compatible with non-3300 XL 5 mm or 8 mm system components. However, the system performance will be limited to the specifications of the non-XL 3300 5 mm and 8 mm transducer systems.
