2. Product Composition and Function Description

The CI855K01 comprises the following two core components:

  1. CI855 Communication Module
    The CI855 is the core communication unit of the system, integrating CEX-Bus logic circuitry, a communication processor, and a DC/DC converter. It receives +24V DC power from the processor unit via the CEX-Bus, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The module supports hot-swapping, allowing replacement during system operation, which greatly improves maintenance convenience and system availability.

  2. TP853 Baseplate
    The TP853 provides mechanical mounting and electrical connection support for the CI855. The baseplate integrates two RJ45 Ethernet ports for connecting redundant Ethernet networks. Its design includes an alphabetical code lock mechanism to prevent incorrect installation of incompatible modules, enhancing assembly safety and accuracy.

  1. Mechanical Mounting: Secure the TP853 baseplate onto a DIN rail, referring to the AC 800M system installation guide.

  2. Module Installation: Insert the CI855 module into the TP853 baseplate, ensuring the code lock aligns correctly.

  3. Network Connection: Use shielded twisted-pair cables to connect the RJ45 ports on the TP853 to an Ethernet switch.

  4. System Configuration: Download a valid hardware configuration including the CI855 to the controller to complete communication initialization.

If a connection to an AUI interface is required, an additional 10BaseT to AUI converter is needed, which must be provided with an independent power source.

5. Fault Diagnosis and Maintenance

The CI855 features a comprehensive LED status indication system to aid in rapid troubleshooting of common faults:

Fault Symptom Possible Cause & Corrective Action
Neither RUN nor FAULT LED is ON The module is starting up or being configured. Allow time for completion. If the condition persists, check the hardware configuration, the CEX-Bus fuse, or attempt a restart/replacement.
FAULT LED is ON Check all cables and connectors for damage, looseness, or poor connections. Repair as necessary.
RUN LED is flashing Check if relevant devices are sending data. If the module is restarting, wait. If flashing persists, restart the application or replace the module.
TX/RX LED is ON (not flashing) Indicates no data transmission/reception. Check communication configuration, cables, and network device status.
