330130-080-12-00 is a special-feature Bently Nevada 3300 XL series extension cable with a total length of 8.0 meters (26.2 feet). The defining feature of this model is the FluidLoc leak-resistant cable combined with pre-installed connector protectors, effectively preventing turbine oil, lubricating oil, and other liquids from migrating through the cable interior and leaking out of the equipment.

It is an essential component of the 3300 XL 8 mm eddy current probe system, specifically designed for bearing housings, turbine casings, and other installations where oil leakage is a risk, meeting strict environmental and safety requirements of standards such as API 670.

Model Breakdown: 330130-080-12-00 Configuration Details

Following Bently Nevada’s part number coding system (refer to datasheet Page 19), the fields in this model number represent the following:

Key Configuration Note: The 12 cable option is the defining feature of this model. FluidLoc technology uses a specialized sealing structure between the inner and outer conductors to prevent liquid migration through the cable via capillary action or pressure differential. Compared to standard cable (00) or cable with protectors only (02), this model provides the highest level of leak protection for turbomachinery applications where oil leakage is a concern.

FluidLoc Leak-Resistant Technology Explained

What is FluidLoc?

FluidLoc is a patented technology from Bently Nevada (referenced in the datasheet as the "FluidLoc cable option"). It incorporates a specialized sealing structure inside the cable to prevent oil or other liquids from migrating through the gap between the center conductor and outer conductor via capillary action. In standard cables, if the probe tip seal fails or the cable jacket is damaged, oil can continuously migrate through the cable interior and eventually leak out at the connector or Proximitor Sensor end, causing environmental contamination or equipment damage.

How FluidLoc Works

  • Blocks Migration Paths: The FluidLoc structure fills the voids between conductors along the entire cable length, eliminating pathways for liquid capillary migration.

  • Dual Sealing: When combined with connector protectors, it provides an additional sealing barrier at the connector interface.

  • Compatible Media: Turbine oil, lubricating oil, water, and most industrial fluids.

Yes (patented sealing structure)

Typical Applications

Dry or oil-mist environments

Bearing housings, turbine casings with liquid oil contact

Cable Outer Diameter

3.68 mm (0.145 in)

3.94 mm (0.155 in) (slightly larger)

Connector Protector

Included on this model

Important Note: FluidLoc cable does not replace the pressure seal at the probe tip. If the probe tip seal fails, FluidLoc can prevent further oil migration along the cable to the outside, but regular inspection of the probe mounting seal is still recommended.

Connector Protector

This model includes pre-installed connector protectors (fluorosilicone material), which provide:

  • Environmental Sealing: Prevents oil, moisture, and dust from penetrating the connector interface

  • Enhanced Leak Protection: Works together with the FluidLoc cable to create a complete leak-proof path from probe to connector

  • Easy Installation: Pre-installed; users only need to tighten the ClickLoc connector normally

The datasheet specifically notes that silicone tape is not recommended for applications where the probe-to-extension cable connection will be exposed to turbine oil, and connector protectors are the recommended alternative. This model, with both FluidLoc and protectors, is the ideal choice for turbine oil environments.

Application Scenarios & Selection Guide

330130-080-12-00 is suitable for the following typical applications:

  1. Turbomachinery Bearing Housings: Steam turbines, compressors, and gas turbines have lubricating oil circulating inside bearing housings. When the probe passes through the housing wall, if the seal fails, oil may migrate along the cable. FluidLoc cable effectively prevents this issue.

  2. Installations with Oil Mist or Liquid Oil Contact: Gearboxes, engine test stands, and other equipment where cables may be exposed to oil mist or splashed lubricating oil.

  3. Facilities with Strict Environmental and Safety Requirements: Offshore platforms, chemical plants, and other areas where any oil leakage is prohibited — FluidLoc provides an additional safety margin.

  4. Long-Distance 9 m Systems: When paired with a 1.0 m probe, this cable completes a 9 m monitoring chain while ensuring full-path leak protection.

Selection Notes:

  • Total Length Matching: Probe length + extension cable length = Proximitor Sensor total system length (5 m or 9 m). Verify your probe and Proximitor Sensor models to ensure total length matching.

  • Slightly Larger Cable Diameter: FluidLoc cable outer diameter is 3.94 mm (standard is 3.68 mm). When routing through conduit or tight passages, confirm adequate clearance.

  • Not Compatible with Armor as a Single Option: FluidLoc and armor are independent options. For armored + FluidLoc + protector, select the 13 option (e.g., 330130-080-13-00).

  • Cost Consideration: FluidLoc cable costs more than standard cable, but for turbomachinery applications with oil leakage risk, the environmental and safety value far exceeds the cost difference.

  • Ambient Temperature: If the application environment exceeds +177°C, consider the ETR (Extended Temperature Range) FluidLoc cable series (e.g., 330190-080-12-00).

Mechanical Dimensions & Installation

  • Cable Outer Diameter: 3.94 mm (0.155 in) maximum

  • Connector: Features the ClickLoc design. Finger-tighten until an audible "click" is heard — no special tools are required.

  • Connector Protector: Pre-installed, automatically forms a seal when the connector is tightened.

  • Installation Tips: When routing through conduit, use a pull rope or fish tape attached to the cable jacket (not the connector protector) to avoid stress. After installation, inspect the connector area for any visible oil seepage.
