330102-00-20-10-02-00 is an armored eddy current probe from the Bently Nevada 3300 XL series, with a total length of 1.0 meter (3.3 feet). This model builds on the base configuration of the 330101 (3/8-24 UNF threads, 0.0‑inch unthreaded length, 2.0‑inch case length, standard ClickLoc connector) by adding stainless steel armor to the cable, providing excellent crush resistance, tensile strength, and abrasion protection. It does not include connector protectors or hazardous area approvals. The armor consists of a flexible stainless steel braid with an FEP outer jacket, suitable for harsh industrial environments where mechanical damage is a concern.

With a total length of 1.0 m, this probe is typically used with a 4.0‑meter extension cable (e.g., 330130-040-00-00) and a 5‑meter Proximitor Sensor (e.g., 330180-50-00) to form a complete 5‑meter system (1.0 m probe + 4.0 m extension cable = 5 m system). This configuration is ideal for installations where the Proximitor Sensor is mounted close to the equipment (e.g., in a junction box) and the cable requires additional mechanical protection.

Key Configuration Note: The defining features of this model are armor and a 2.0‑inch case length. Armor provides mechanical protection for applications where crushing, pulling, or abrasion risks exist. The 2.0‑inch case length is suitable for moderately deep mounting holes. The 1.0 m total length is for 5‑meter systems (paired with a 4.0 m extension cable). The unthreaded length is 0.0 inches, meaning the thread starts immediately after the probe tip. This model does not include connector protectors or hazardous area approvals.

Armor Details

Stainless Steel Armor

The armor layer consists of flexible AISI 302 or 304 stainless steel braid, covered with an FEP outer jacket, providing the following protection:

  • Crush Resistance: Prevents cable damage from compression during installation or operation

  • Tensile Strength: Enhances overall cable pull strength for conduit routing

  • Abrasion Resistance: Prevents insulation damage from friction against metal conduits or equipment edges

  • Cut Resistance: Protects internal conductors from accidental cuts or sharp object damage

No Connector Protector

This model does not include pre-installed connector protectors, so the connector is exposed to the environment without additional oil or dust sealing. It is suitable for dry, clean environments where the connector will not contact turbine oil, moisture, or dust. If environmental sealing is required, select a version with connector protectors (e.g., 330102-00-20-10-03-00 or 330102-00-20-10-12-00, etc.).

Selection Tip: Armored cable weighs approximately 103 g/m (standard cable is 34 g/m). Consider the tensile load on connectors and probes during installation. The minimum bend radius for armored cable is 25.4 mm (1.0 in), the same as standard cable, but the armor increases stiffness.

Application Scenarios & Selection Guide

330102-00-20-10-02-00 is suitable for the following typical applications:

  1. 5‑Meter System + Mechanical Protection: Paired with a 4.0 m extension cable (e.g., 330130-040-00-00) and a 5 m Proximitor Sensor (e.g., 330180-50-00) to form a complete 5‑meter monitoring system, with armor providing additional mechanical protection.

  2. Installations Requiring Moderate Thread Engagement and Armor: The 2.0‑inch case length (approx. 50.8 mm) is suitable for moderately deep mounting holes where cable protection is needed, such as near compressors, steam turbines, generators, and other equipment where vibration, friction, or accidental impact may occur.

  3. Conduit Routing (Dry Environments): When cables must be routed through metal conduit or cable trays and connector sealing is not required, armor effectively protects the cable against sharp edges at conduit ends.

  4. High Mechanical Stress Environments (No Oil Exposure): Near large rotating machinery, cables may be subject to crushing or abrasion; armor provides a safety margin while the connector remains in a relatively clean area.

  5. Standard Industrial Environments: No hazardous area approvals – suitable for non‑hazardous, dry, clean installations.

Selection Notes:

  • Total Length Matching: Probe length + extension cable length = Proximitor Sensor total system length (5 m or 9 m). This 1.0 m probe must be used with a 4.0 m extension cable to form a 5‑meter system.

  • Case Length Selection: The 2.0‑inch case is suitable for moderate depth mounting holes. If the mounting hole is shallow, select an armored model with a 0.8, 1.2, 1.4, or 1.6‑inch case; if the hole is very deep, consider 3.0, 4.0, or 6.0‑inch cases. Important: The datasheet maximum recommended thread engagement is 0.563 inches – use lock nuts and washers to limit actual engagement to ≤0.563 inches.

  • Armored Cable Bend Radius: While the minimum bend radius is 25.4 mm, armor increases cable stiffness; allow sufficient clearance when routing.

  • Weight: Armored cable weighs approx. 103 g/m; consider the tensile load on connectors and probes during long runs.

  • Connector Protection: If the environment has oil mist or moisture, select a version with connector protectors (e.g., 330102-00-20-10-03-00).

  • Ambient Temperature: Standard probe is rated to +177°C. For higher temperatures, select an ETR high‑temperature armored probe (330192 series).

  • Hazardous Area Requirements: If explosive gas atmospheres are present, select the version with hazardous area approvals (e.g., 330102-00-20-10-02-05).

Mechanical Dimensions & Installation

  • Probe Tip Diameter: 8.0 mm (0.31 in)

  • Thread Specification: 3/8-24 UNF-2A; recommended lock nut torque: 11.2 N·m (100 in·lbf)

  • Overall Case Length: 2.0 in (50.8 mm)

  • Unthreaded Length: 0.0 in

  • Cable Outer Diameter: Armored section 7.67 mm (0.302 in) maximum; armor ferrule 10.2 mm (0.40 in) maximum; non‑armored section (near connector) 3.68 mm (0.145 in)

  • Connector Outer Diameter: 7.24 mm (0.285 in) maximum

  • Minimum Bend Radius: 25.4 mm (1.0 in)

  • Installation Tips: Before installation, measure the effective thread depth of the mounting hole. Use lock nuts and washers to limit engagement to ≤0.563 inches. The armored section can withstand higher pulling forces, but it is still recommended to attach pulling lines to the cable jacket rather than the connector. Set the probe gap to the recommended -9 Vdc (approx. 1.27 mm), monitored via the Proximitor Sensor output voltage.
