330130-080-00-05 is a Bently Nevada 3300 XL series standard extension cable with a total length of 8.0 meters (26.2 feet). This model combines the proven performance of FEP-insulated cable and ClickLoc connectors with CSA, ATEX, and IECEx hazardous area approvals, making it suitable for intrinsically safe (IS) installations in explosive atmospheres.

It is an essential component of the 3300 XL 8 mm eddy current probe system, connecting the probe (such as 330101-XX-XX-XX-05) located in hazardous areas (e.g., Zone 0, Zone 1, Class I Division 1) to the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor installed in a safe area, forming a complete vibration and position monitoring loop.

Conditions of Safe Use (Intrinsically Safe Systems)

When used in an intrinsically safe system, the following conditions must be observed:

  • Barriers/Isolators: Must be installed with intrinsically safe zener barriers per Bently Nevada drawing 141092, or with galvanic isolators.

  • Entity Parameters (when connected to approved Proximitor Sensor):

    • Ui = -28V

    • Ii = 140 mA

    • Pi = 0.91 W

    • Ci = 47 nF

    • Li = 1460 μH

  • Installation Environment: The Proximitor Sensor must be installed in a non-hazardous area or within an approved explosion-proof enclosure.

Important: This cable must be used with hazardous area approved probes (e.g., 330101-XX-XX-XX-05) and Proximitor Sensors (e.g., 330180-XX-05) to maintain a complete intrinsically safe system. Mixing with non-approved components will void the hazardous area certification.

Application Scenarios & Selection Guide

330130-080-00-05 is suitable for the following typical applications:

  1. Long-Distance Monitoring in Hazardous Areas: In refineries, chemical plants, natural gas facilities, and other locations with flammable gases or vapors (Zone 0, Zone 1), this cable safely transmits probe signals from the hazardous area to the Proximitor Sensor located in a safe area.

  2. API 670 Compliant Systems: This model is an ideal choice for building API 670 compliant intrinsically safe vibration monitoring systems for turbomachinery, compressors, and critical pumps.

  3. 9 m System with Hazardous Area Configuration: When paired with a 1.0 m hazardous area approved probe (e.g., 330101-XX-10-XX-05), this cable completes a 9 m intrinsically safe monitoring system for long-distance signal transmission.

Selection Notes:

  • Total Length Matching: Probe length + extension cable length = Proximitor Sensor total system length (5 m or 9 m). Verify that both the probe and Proximitor Sensor are approved versions and that total lengths match.

  • Ambient Temperature: If the application environment exceeds +177°C, consider the ETR (Extended Temperature Range) hazardous area approved extension cable series.

  • System Integrity: All components entering the hazardous area (probe, extension cable, connector protectors) must carry the same hazardous area approval rating.

Mechanical Dimensions & Installation

  • Cable Outer Diameter: Standard cable 3.68 mm (0.145 in) maximum; armored versions have larger diameters.

  • Connector: Features the ClickLoc design. Finger-tighten until an audible "click" is heard — no special tools are required. For hazardous area systems, connector protectors are recommended to enhance environmental sealing.

  • Installation Drawing: Intrinsically safe system installation must strictly follow Bently Nevada drawing 141092, including barrier selection, grounding, and wiring practices.
