The CI856 is the core communication processing unit, integrating the following functional modules:

S100 I/O bus logic responsible for scanning and updating connected S100 I/O modules;
Built-in CPU for handling communication protocols and data exchange;
DC/DC converter that converts the +24V power supply from the CEX-Bus to the voltages required by the module.
The TP856 provides mechanical mounting and electrical connection support for the CI856, featuring:
36-pin centerline miniature ribbon connector (female) for connecting S100 I/O rack cables (models TK575/TK580);
Code lock mechanism using a preset two-letter alpha code locking device to prevent installation of incompatible modules;
DIN-rail mounting design compliant with industrial standards for easy integration into control cabinets.
Supports up to 5 S100 I/O racks, each with up to 20 I/O modules;
Minimum cyclic scan/update interval of 0.2 ms (actual performance depends on I/O type and quantity);
Enables real-time data acquisition and control output, suitable for high-speed process control.
Reuses existing I/O installations, terminal blocks, and field wiring from legacy ABB Master and Advant OCS systems, protecting customer investment;
