330130-080-03-00 is a Bently Nevada 3300 XL series standard extension cable with a total length of 8.0 meters (26.2 feet). This model builds upon the standard FEP-insulated cable by adding stainless steel armor and pre-installed connector protectors, providing enhanced mechanical protection and environmental sealing for both the cable and connectors.
It is an essential component of the 3300 XL 8 mm eddy current probe system, specifically designed for installations requiring resistance to mechanical wear, crushing, pulling stress, or exposure to harsh environments such as turbine oil. Typical applications include vibration monitoring systems for large compressors, steam turbines, and generator sets.
Following Bently Nevada’s part number coding system, the fields in this model number represent the following:
Field | Code | Parameter | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
Base Model |
| 3300 XL Standard Extension Cable | Compatible with 3300 XL 8 mm and 3300 5 mm series probes |
Length Option |
| 8.0 meters (26.2 ft) | Total cable length, suitable for long-distance signal transmission |
Cable Option |
| Armored Cable with Connector Protector | Stainless steel armor provides mechanical protection; pre-installed connector protectors enhance environmental sealing |
Agency Approval |
| Not Required | Standard industrial version for non-hazardous areas or applications where ATEX/IECEx certification is not needed |
Key Configuration Note: The
03cable option is the defining feature of this model. Compared to00(standard cable) or02(connector protector only), this model combines both armor and connector protectors, offering the highest level of mechanical protection for long-distance cable routing. It is especially suitable for conduit installations, environments with mechanical vibration, or applications where exposure to turbine oil is possible.
The armor layer consists of flexible AISI 302 or 304 stainless steel braid, covered with an FEP outer jacket, providing the following protection:
Crush Resistance: Prevents cable damage from compression during installation or operation
Tensile Strength: Enhances overall cable pull strength for long-distance conduit routing
Abrasion Resistance: Prevents insulation damage from friction against metal conduits or equipment edges
Cut Resistance: Protects internal conductors from accidental cuts or sharp object damage
This model includes pre-installed fluorosilicone connector protectors, which provide:
Environmental Sealing: Prevents turbine oil, moisture, and dust from penetrating the connector interface, reducing the risk of signal degradation or short circuits
Enhanced Connection Reliability: Forms a sealed sleeve after connector mating, ensuring long-term connection integrity
Recommended Applications: Especially recommended for applications where the probe-to-extension cable connection may be exposed to turbine oil (the datasheet notes that silicone tape is not recommended for such applications, while connector protectors offer a more reliable alternative)
Important Note: The connector protectors on this model are factory-installed and require no on-site assembly. For field installations requiring retrofitting, connector protector kits are available separately (part numbers 40113-02 or 40180-02).
330130-080-03-00 is suitable for the following typical applications:
Long-Distance Conduit Routing: When cables must be pulled through metal conduits, cable trays, or tight spaces, the armor layer protects against damage from sharp edges or burrs at conduit ends.
High Mechanical Stress Environments: Near large turbomachinery, compressors, and generators, cables may be subjected to vibration, friction, or accidental impact — armor provides an extra margin of safety.
Turbine Oil Exposure Risk: In turbine bearing housings or compressor lube oil systems, the probe-to-extension cable connection may be exposed to oil mist or liquid oil. Connector protectors prevent oil migration along the cable interior (especially effective when combined with FluidLoc cable options).
Long-Distance 9 m Systems: When paired with a 1.0 m probe, this cable completes a 9 m monitoring chain while ensuring mechanical reliability during long-distance routing.
Selection Notes:
Total Length Matching: Probe length + extension cable length = Proximitor Sensor total system length (5 m or 9 m). Verify your probe and Proximitor Sensor models to ensure total length matching.
Bend Radius: The minimum bend radius for armored cable remains 25.4 mm (1.0 in), the same as standard cable. However, the armor increases cable stiffness and outer diameter — allow sufficient clearance when routing in confined spaces.
Weight: Armored cable weighs approximately 103 g/m (standard cable is 34 g/m). For long-distance installations, consider the additional tensile load on connectors and probes.
Ambient Temperature: If the application environment exceeds +177°C, consider the ETR (Extended Temperature Range) armored cable series (e.g., 330190-080-03-00).
Cable Outer Diameter:
Armored section: 7.67 mm (0.302 in) maximum
Armor ferrule: 10.2 mm (0.40 in) maximum
Non-armored section (near connector end): 3.68 mm (0.145 in) standard cable diameter
Connector: Features the ClickLoc design. Finger-tighten until an audible "click" is heard — no special tools are required. The connector protector automatically forms a seal when tightened.
Installation Tips: When routing through conduit, use a pull rope or fish tape attached to the cable jacket (not the connector) to avoid stress on the connector protector. If connector protector removal is required for inspection, refer to the datasheet for tool instructions.
For other lengths or configurations of armored extension cables, refer to the following options:
