The ABB 07 DC 92 is a high-performance, configurable digital input/output module designed for the Advant Controller 31 system. It functions as a remote module on the CS31 system bus, offering 32 independently configurable I/O channels supporting 24 V DC signal levels. It is suitable for signal acquisition and output control tasks in industrial automation control systems. The module features group-wise electrical isolation, comprehensive diagnostic and protection functions, making it ideal for demanding industrial environments requiring high reliability and flexibility.
The 07 DC 92 module provides 32 programmable channels. Each channel can be individually configured via the user program as:
Digital Input: For acquiring external switch status signals.
Digital Output: For driving external actuators, with a rated load capacity of 0.5 A.
Re-readable Output: Combines output functionality with status feedback, suitable for applications requiring real-time output monitoring.
This flexible configuration allows users to freely allocate the number of inputs and outputs based on actual control needs, maximizing module utilization.
The 32 channels are divided into 4 groups of 8 channels each. Electrical isolation is implemented between groups and between all groups and the rest of the module. This design effectively prevents a failure or interference in one group from affecting the entire module, enhancing system reliability and noise immunity.
Each output channel uses transistor switching with a rated load current of 500 mA and features overload and short-circuit protection. When an output current exceeding approximately 0.7 A is detected, the module automatically limits the current and cuts off the output after about 100 ms, preventing device damage. Outputs are automatically restored after the fault is cleared, requiring no manual or program intervention, significantly improving maintenance efficiency.
The 07 DC 92 module communicates with the central processing unit via the CS31 system bus. The bus interface is electrically isolated from the rest of the module, ensuring stable communication. The module occupies two digital addresses on the bus (for inputs and outputs respectively) but can also be configured as an output-only module, occupying only the output address and optimizing system address resource usage.
The 07 DC 92 module uses removable screw terminal blocks, supporting maximum conductor cross-sections of 2.5 mm² (for power and bus) and 1.5 mm² (for signal terminals). The front panel includes:
32 Yellow LEDs: Display the real-time signal status of each channel.
1 Red LED: For error indication.
1 Test Button: For manual diagnostics and error acknowledgment.
The module can be mounted on a DIN rail (conforming to DIN EN 50022-35, 15 mm depth) or fixed with 4 M4 screws. Vertical installation is recommended with connectors facing up or down to ensure unobstructed natural convection cooling.
The 07 DC 92 module address is set using the DIL rotary coding switch located under the slide cover on the right side. When using 07 KR 91 or 07 KT 9x as the bus master:
If DIL switch 1 is set to OFF (factory default), the module can use all 32 channels as inputs or outputs and occupies two bus addresses.
If DIL switch 1 is set to ON, the module operates solely as an output module and does not occupy input addresses.
The address setting is read only during module initialization upon power-up. Changes made during operation are ineffective until the next power cycle. Using even-numbered module addresses (e.g., 08, 10, 12…60) is recommended for optimal system compatibility.
The 07 DC 92 module features comprehensive diagnostic functions, including:
Output short-circuit/overload detection (>0.7 A)
Internal module error detection
CS31 bus communication status monitoring
When an error occurs, the red LED illuminates and the error is reported to the central unit via the bus. On-site diagnostics can be performed using the test button and the yellow LEDs:
Pressing the button briefly cycles through channels, with LEDs 00–07 displaying diagnostic information (e.g., LED 04 ON indicates overload or short-circuit for that output).
Pressing and holding the button for about 5 seconds acknowledges an error.
After querying all channels, pressing the button again initiates an LED test (all LEDs light up), followed by a 3-second display of the current address switch setting on LEDs 00–07.
The ABB 07 DC 92 module is suitable for various industrial automation scenarios, such as:
Production line control and monitoring
Signal interchange for machinery and equipment
Logistics sorting and packaging systems
