The 3300 XL 8 mm Eddy-Current Displacement Sensing System is commonly used for vibration and position analysis on fluid-film bearing machinery, as well as for Keyphasor® and rotational speed sensing. It represents the cutting edge of eddy-current sensing technology. The standard 5-meter configuration complies with all relevant criteria of API Standard 670, covering mechanical design, linear operating range, accuracy, and thermal stability.
The operating principle of the 3300 XL 8 mm system is based on generating an output voltage that varies linearly with the gap between the probe and a conductive target, supporting both position and dynamic vibration measurements.
Every component within the 3300 XL 8 mm product family is fully interoperable; probes, cables, and sensors can be exchanged without requiring individual calibration. Furthermore, all components are backward compatible with non-XL 3300 series sensors in both 5 mm and 8 mm sizes. For instance, the 5 mm probe option is suitable for applications where spatial constraints prohibit the use of an 8 mm probe.
The 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor introduces several design enhancements. Its housing supports both high-density DIN-rail mounting and traditional panel mounting, maintaining consistent bolt patterns with earlier models. Each mounting base incorporates integrated electrical isolation, eliminating the need for external isolators.
The 3300 XL probe and cable feature upgraded mechanical designs. The patented TipLoc® process creates a stronger bond between the probe tip and the body. The CableLoc® feature provides 330 N (75 lbf) of pull-off resistance, preventing separation under strain.
An optional FluidLoc® cable sheath is available to prevent internal fluids from migrating along the cable core, reducing the risk of external leakage.
All system connectors are equipped with gold-plated, corrosion-resistant ClickLoc® interfaces. They require only hand-tightening—audible feedback confirms proper connection—and are designed to resist loosening under vibration. No tools are needed for installation or removal.
